is 6,770 to much money to spend for study abroad for just two months in Italy?
I want to go but I don't know if I should just wait till I go to a university and then spend the money to study abroad there or just do it while I'm in community college I need help I only have till Saturday to decide and I'm lost please help here are some info about the programe here is an overview of the program: Florence, Italy Fall 2011 Departure date: Thursday September 22, 2011 Return date: Saturday November 26, 2011 AIFS will serve as the provider for services related to this program Classes will start approximately six weeks prior to departure at Southwestern College. Attendance for class meets is mandatory. (Information is subject to change and will be updated as it becomes available) The cost for this semester abroad program is approximately $6,770 (based on an enrollment of 40 students), and includes the fRound trip · Roundtrip airfare to Florence, Italy. · Shared room in a self-catering student apartment in the Historical Center of Florence. Typically there are four students to each apartment with regular cleaning service and a change of linen provided. Apartments are a maximum of 20 minutes walk from the study center. · Native Italian faculty and an on-site coordinator in Florence. · Transportation from airports in Italy. · A nine week museum pass providing unlimited free entry to the following museums: Uffizi, Bargello, Accademia, Palazzo Pitti, San Marco Museum, Boboli Gardens, Medici Chapel, Cenacolo di Sant¹Andrea del Sarto, Giardino della Villa, Medicea di Castello, Villa Medicea di Poggio a Caiano and Villa Medicea della Patraia. · A full-day excursion to Siena and San Gimignano including round-trip transportation by private bus, the services of a professional English-speaking guide, lunch and entrances. · A full-day excursion to Perugia and Assisi including round-trip transportation by private bus, the services of a professional English-speaking guide, lunch and entrances. · The educational center has two computers (PCs), which are free of charge as well as free wireless connection throughout the center for students to use with their laptops. · Membership with borrowing rights to the British Institute Library in Florence. · Student medical and program fee refund insurance policies, as outlined in the program brochure. Coverage includes $10,000 accidental medical expense and $10,000 accidental death payment plus 24-hour emergency care assistance during the program and repatriation in cases of verified emergency beyond the students¹ control. Note: There is also an additional nonrefundable fee of approximately$450 for airline taxes/fees, and an apartment security deposit, which is refundable at the end of program. Items not included in the program: · Course Registration fees ($26.00 per unit) · Books · Any personal expenses · Airport departure taxes · Visa fees · Passport fees · Food · And other related items not included in the program cost. There is a $400.00 application fee due at the time of registration with the balance of the program costs due in three payments. so you think it's worth it I found it to much for just 2 months and it being $6,770 but then again I dont know if its a good deal or not

That's actually cheap, considering many of your expenses will be covered and you will be getting good quality. If you're not convinced, ask a college counselor about it.

First, I would ask to see if the university you are attending will receive foreign credit. Many US/ British Univerisities will receive foreign credit directly. That would cut your price in half. I'm not sure if you are "sold out" on Italy. If not, I would consider :Costa Rica, Thailand, or Czech Republic. All would be half price. It would also matter whether you need 6 credit hours or could just take 3. Many times people just want to enjoy a summer abroad and do not reallly consider the fact that the second set (credit 4-6) usually adds $1,500 to the bill. Finally, the price is middle of the road. There are some that are cheaper, but usually do not include a roundtrip ticket. I researched Germany last year and the cost of living is higher in Germany than Italy. I found a couple exceptions in Germany that were $2,500 US plus a plane ticket. I would imagine that it would be a little cleaper for the best deals. Many, Many, cummunity colleges in the US offer summer abroad to Italy. It is the #1 destination of study abroad for community colleges. Take a look around and you will find $4,500-$5,500 in Italy I am sure
