Italy uses a two-pin outlet similar to the rest of continental Europe. You can drop by an Apple Store, and buy a set of adapters that replace the two-pin US plug on your Macbook's power brick for that cool Apple look. Or you can just buy a US->Europe plug adapter like the one in the bottom picture of the page linked below.

Italy uses the two pin "euro" plug. Obviously your Macbook is okay on voltage but I do recommend a small surge protector. There are several small travel ones that are a combo adapter and 100-240 surge protector. www.walkabouttravel.com has one that I use. It even has a built in USB charger, all for about 20 bucks.

An adaptor so it will fit into an Italian socket. Shouldn't be a problem

ACER is the best brand.
2 :
Try: Dell, Vaio, Apple. Depends what you really want to use the machine for - Apple laptops are great and very reliable.

every branded laptop is good for that matter, but it depends on what type of usage u have got so depending on that choose the best model which supports ur usage

How do I use my Dell laptop to use the internet in Italy

How do I use my Dell laptop to use the internet in Italy?
It's my family's first trip to Europe. The voltage converter says not to use with electronics. Do I need it? How do I hook up to my Yahoo?

You don't
2 :
Go to Radio Shack and buy a converter that's rated for laptops and other electronics. Regarding the Internet, TCP/IP is not language-specific so as long as the hotel provides you with 'net access you should be OK

If I am moving to Italy, can I still bring my desktop computer and laptop

If I am moving to Italy, can I still bring my desktop computer and laptop?
Want to know what to keep in mind regarding my computer, if I can bring my existing computer ITALY without having a problem running it. I know there is a power difference 220V in Europe.

obviously,lol
2 :
I know desktops have a little switch next to the power switch on the back of the computer that can change over from 120 to 220. Not so sure about laptops.
3 :
If your computer is not ancient ,the power supply has voltage selector.Same for laptop,it does this automatically.
4 :
yes, run it on a transformer.
5 :
i forbid you to bring anything, XD Of course you can bring you desktop and laptop
6 :
yahh, why not ? :]
7 :
there shouldn't be a problem the desktop power supply have a switch as for the laptop you can probably get a universal adapter for it.
8 :
Power difference is the only issue. Laptops adapters normally change automatically with no problem (see label on adapter - it should read "input voltage 100V-250V" Desktop PCs often have a switch on the power block (where the mains cable goes in) that allows you to switch from 110 to 220/240. If yours does then it will be a red slider that you have to move by sliding it accross with a screwdriver or similar. It will be showing the current voltage on it. OBVIOUSLY you should not switch over until you get to italy.

There are plug adapters, but asking someone knowledgeable about computers would be best. The power surges and requirements may be different. Also, will the programs and operating systems be easily compatible with your computers? You will have to connect to the internet with at least one of them, I am guessing.

ya ofcose
